McCanney wins, Knight crashes, at latest WEC round

Danny McCanney claimed his first Enduro World Championship victory in Finland on Sunday.

The 20-year-old finished runner-up to championship leader Mathias Bellino on the opening day before securing the win on day two.

The GAS-GAS rider said: "It's an amazing feeling to have won a race in what is only my first season of EWC."

The result leaves McCanney in third place in the overall standings.

Fellow Manx rider Alex Rockwell also finished on the podium on day two in third.

Meanwhile, four-time world champion David Knight crashed early on day one of the E3 Class and spent the following day in hospital as a precautionary measure.

A spokesman for KTM said: "He's okay now thankfully, the worry was that he might have had some internal injuries - but he is looking good."

Elsewhere, Jamie McCanney claimed two second-place finishes in the Youth Cup 125cc series to move fifth in the overall standings.
