'MD's' will be located on approach to 27th milestone

Michael Dunlop - the most successful TT rider of all time - has had a corner on the Snaefell Mountain Course dedicated to him in honour of his achievements.

The corner, which will be known as 'MD's' is situated on the approach to the 27th milestone on the mountain section of the course.

The location is in recognition of his record-breaking 27th TT win in 2024 which broke the previous all-time victories record set by his uncle Joey Dunlop back in 2000.

Speaking on the new directional marker, Michael says: It is a real, genuine honour to have this happen, and it’s something I’m really proud of.”

“Anyone that knows me will know how important history and legacy is to me. I’m definitely not one for the attention, and I think everyone knows I don’t really enjoy the spotlight, but to be recognised in this way is special and means a great deal to me.

"I’ve still got plenty of wins in me yet, who knows where I’ll get to in that respect, but to know that this corner is here and will always be here – it’s a real privilege."

Twelve months ago, Michael also claimed two further wins to move onto 29 TT wins in total.

He joins a prestigious list which includes racing legends Joey Dunlop, Giacomo Agostini, John McGuinness and Mike Hailwood in having a section of the TT course named after him.
