More success for Dan Kneen in Yorkshire

Dan Kneen scored another race win in the latest Fuchs-Silkolene British Supersport Cup round at Croft race circuit in Yorkshire.

Victory lifted him to joint third overall in the cup championship with two rounds remaining.

Despite sliding off in the wet on Friday’s free practice, combined qualifying saw 23 year-old Manxman Kneen lying quickest of the cup contenders in 18th position, just behind ex-British Supersport champion and superbike rider Karl Harris.

On race day, an incident packed Supersport race saw Kneen take 14th overall and win the privateers cup for the second time, his first victory was at Thruxton in April.

‘I was getting held up by Jamie Hamilton in 13th on the much faster gearlink Kawasaki and was on the grass once trying to overtake him as I knew the other cup riders were catching up and I had a couple of other hairy moments during the race to maintain my position,’ said Kneen, who trails championship leader Pat McDougall by 13 points.

He’d like to thank the Steam Packet Company for helping with his travel to the UK, Marks Bloom racing, Slick Performance, Manx Gas, London Suzuki Centre and all his trade sponsors.

The next British Championship round is at Silverstone on September 24/25.
