More than 250 sign on for today's End To End Walk

Bus timetable changes and traffic restrictions in place during event

More than 250 people are expected to take part in today's End To End Walk.

Organisers have confirmed 258 competitors registered for the race during last night's signing on.

They'll be trying to complete a challenging 39.22-mile route starting at the Point of Ayre lighthouse at 8am and finishing at The Sound.

It's hoped the weather forecast will enable the complete race to be held, but organisers have warned the distance may be shortened if conditions worsen.

Due to expected conditions at The Sound, Bus Vannin is running a reduced service in the area today, with Port Erin departures after 11.40am only going as far as the Cregneash car park.

There are also traffic restrictions in place on the Ballakillowey Road, Sloc Road and Ballakilpheric Road between 12.30pm and 4.30pm.

Race Director, Tony Mackintosh was asked what he thinks has helped the event's popularity in recent times:
