Island athlete takes gold medal in Birmingham
David Mullarkey won the UK Athletics Championships 5,000m race at the weekend.
Competing in Birmingham yesterday (21 June), Mullarkey took the gold medal with a time of 13 minutes and 27 seconds.
He beat second place Andrew Butchart by more than five-tenths.
The Island competitor currently ranks as number one in the 5,000m event of all UK athletes in 2026.
Mullarkey is set to compete for Team Isle of Man at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow next month.
