Newton pips Garrett
Adam Cowin and Jamie Newton were the winners of the Northern 10-mile road run and walk, sponsored by Paul Collins Training, yesterday (Sunday).
The Northern Athletics Club event saw Adam Cowin triumph in the five miles walk in a time of 40 minutes 11 seconds, and 80 minutes 31 seconds for the 10 miles.
He finished ahead of Tom Partington (83.42) and Gianni Epifani (89.35) who just pipped the first woman home, Hannah Hunter, into fourth (89.37).
David Walker and James Quirk completed the top six.
Steph Quayle and Jayne Farquhar were ninth and 10th respectively.
The run was won by Jamie Newton (57.22) just five seconds clear from Michael Garrett (57.27) and Stuart Christian (59.34).
Lisa Dunwell the first woman home in 16th from Helen Taylor 19th and Samantha Brooks 20th.
