No shocks in Junior Cup

Combination One champions Old Boys had no problems as they progressed to the quarter-finals of the JCK Junior Cup on Saturday.

Goals from Darren Hudgeon, Lee Ford, Chris Clinton and Matthew Quilliam saw off Ramsey at Blackberry Lane in a 4-0 success.

They’ll now meet Rushen who defeated St John’s at Croit Lowey, thanks to second half goals from Dicky Corrin and Stuart Kneen.

Peel had too much for Ramsey Youth Centre as doubles from Gary Christian, Chris Looney and one from Alex Cowley, secured a 5-0 win for the westerners, a score that was repeated at Colby where two goals from regular first teamer Marc Priestnal led St Mary’s to victory.

Kane Dooley, Bryan Crellin and James Dooley netted the others.

The drama of the day came out west as Marown won a sudden death penalty shoot-out to see off Foxdale at Billy Goat Park.

The sides were deadlocked at 1-1 after 90 minutes and then extra-time, forcing the shoot-out which Marown won 10-9.

Combination One heavyweights St George’s triumphed at Michael with a 4-1 win.

The hero was 16 year-old Connor Dowell who notched a hat-trick with Nick Bass netting the other.

Jack Smith scored the Michael goal.

Tristan Ringham, Gary Mills and Fletcher Craine were the scorers as Onchan saw off Ronaldsway 3-0, while a first half penalty from James Brown ensured Ayre defeated the Police by a solitary goal.
