Old Boys go top; Ayre shock Saints

Old Boys have moved to the top of the Canada Life International Premier League.

They won 5-1 at Castletown on Saturday to leapfrog pacesetters St George’s who weren’t in action.

Lowly Town battled hard and led at half-time through Alex Crawley but in the end Old Boys ran out convincing winners.

Goals from Max Burman, Craig Stewart (two), Robbie Ward and David Quirk ensured they moved to the summit.

Ayre United sealed the result of the day.

Sean Kelly grabbed the only goal of the game as the newly promoted northerners went a long way to securing their top flight status with a shock 1-0 success against St Mary’s at Andreas.

Michael did their survival chances the power of good and significantly damaged Douglas Royal’s hopes.

The home side ran out 3-1 winners out west, courtesy of goals from Kieran Quinn, Peter Lewis and Andy Williamson.

Aaron Quinn netted for Royal.

Both clubs wish Royal's Mike Walker a full recovery after he had to be stretchered off with a broken leg.
