Ollie, Rachael and David smash running records

Some of oldest records in book go

Three Manx athletes beat long standing distance records within hours of each other on Sunday morning.

Firstly, Ollie Lockley recorded a time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 3 seconds at the Valencia half marathon in Spain.

If the time is officially ratified, it's inside the Manx record set by Keith Gerrard at the 2011 Great North Run of 63 minutes and 39 seconds.

Rachael Franklin beat one of the oldest records in the book.

She stopped the clock at the Leeds Abbey 10K Dash at 33 minutes and 51 seconds which is inside the standard set in Liverpool in 1991 by Brenda Walker of 34 minutes and 20 seconds - the year in which Rachael was born!

At the same meeting, David Mullarkey ran a brilliant time of 30 minutes and 36 seconds which beats the junior men's 10K record set by Keith Gerrard in 2005.
