The swimmer made her Commonwealth debut in Birmingham four years ago
Kiera Prentice has got her Commonwealth Games off to a flyer with a new personal best time in the Women’s 400m Freestyle Heat.
Prentice finished second in her heat with a time of 4:32.94.
Speaking to Manx Radio's Sports Editor Rob Pritchard, she said she was 'really happy' with her performance.
She added: "To be able to put a PB down on the first race and like a stage like this, my best performance ever. So yeah, can't complain."
Not only did she get her games off to a good start, Prentice said she spotted her parents in the crowd as she prepared to get into the pool, saying it was 'nice to see my biggest supporters there'.
Elsewhere in the pool so far today, Lauren Dennett made her debut in the Women’s 400m Freestyle Heat, finishing eighth, Libby Curphey finished fifth in her Women’s 200m Backstroke Heat in 2:26.54 seconds and Charlie Foster finished third in his Men’s 50m Backstroke Heat in 28.22 seconds.
