Thrilling wins for Royal and Gymns

Pulrose checked the early season promotion progress of Foxdale in JCK Division Two on Saturday.

An impressive 4-1 win at the second placed side was the stand-out result in the division.

Darren Flanagan was the main man with two and he was joined on the scoresheet by Harry Lowther, while there was also an own goal.

Jay Chatwood found the net on a day to forget for the hosts.

Braddan took full advantage to move clear at the top, thanks to a 4-0 success at spirited Douglas and District.

Douglas Royal produced a stirring comeback to see off Marown 5-2 at Ballafletcher.

The Crosby men were in charge with two goals inside the opening 22 minutes from Cameron Avery and Connor Gilbert.

Royal, though, were far from deflated and levelled before the break.

Paul Whitley reduced the arrears with a fine finish before a superb long-range effort from Greg Hoskisson brought Royal level just before half-time.

Another excellent finish from Chris Anderson put Royal in front for the first time before two goals inside three minutes from Sean Trayner and John Quirk capped off a fine fightback.

There was another cracker at Tromode where Gymns were rampant in the first half but had to hang on to fend off a spirited Ramsey Youth Centre fightback.

A Max Stokoe hat-trick and goals from Mark Connor, Max Burman and Daniel Kewley ultimately secured a 6-5 win.

But Gymns, who led 4-0 at the break, were given a scare.

A goal in each half from Mike Kenny and Nathan Cooil gave Castletown victory in the southern derby.

They finished 2-1 winners at Malew whose marksman was Jordan Krypner.

Kraig Marsh was the star for Onchan with both goals as they saw off in-form Governor’s Athletic 2-0 at Onchan Stadium.
