Race record obliterated

The course record in this year’s Race The Sun relay has been obliterated.

Twenty of the 27 teams competing finished the event and Manxman Lloyd Taggart led a nine-man team to a comprehensive victory in just over 10 hours.

Taggart is a member of Manx Fell Runners and Dark Peak Fell Runners based in the Peak District.

The event – organised by The Children’s Centre and sponsored by Mann Made Group - involved teams running a clockwise lap of the Island’s Raad ny Foillan 98 mile coastal footpath starting and finishing in Peel.

Competing in the 10 legs of the relay with Taggart were Tom Cringle from Manx Fell Runners and Dark Peak Fell Runners’ captain Robert Little, Neil Northrop, Peter Hodges, Rhys Findlay-Robinson, Tom Beasant and Tom Edwards, along with Welsh ultra-fell runner Andrew Davies.

Now in its sixth year, Race the Sun has raised over £40,000 with money going directly to support vulnerable children and young people in the Isle of Man through The Children’s Centre’s Mobex project.
