Rain hits weekend cricket

Matches here and abroad called off

The weather was unkind to Manx Cricket teams on Saturday.

The Blincoe Cup Final was abandoned because of the heavy rain which hit the Island – it will now go ahead this coming Saturday at Mullen-e-Cloie.

In Sweden the Euros were again wrecked by the elements.

Only two matches were able to be played on Saturday with the Manx game against Sweden being abandoned without a ball being bowled.

The Europe Division Two title was won by Germany, who have been promoted to Division One.

The Isle of Man were placed fifth with one win, two defeats and two matches abandoned.

In a tight mid-table, they were just two points behind second-placed Sweden, who got the second promotion place.

The relegation spot went to Gibraltar, who lost all their games.
