Ramsey reign supreme

Ramsey B beat the holders Loaghtyn Rams in the final of the Standard Bank Blincoe Cup yesterday.

Batting first Ramsey made 152 for 4 with Ashley Webber hitting 58 and Peter Gelling making 42 not out.

In their first innings Loaghtyn replied with 117 for 6, opener Simon Beard scored 46 and Will Wood 21.

Batting again Loaghtyn improved on their first innings total, making 139 for 6, Simon Beard top-scoring again with 69 while Brian Arnold took an impressive 3-7 for the Northerners.

That meant Ramsey needed 105 for victory in their second innings, but they got away to a nervous start, losing three quick wickets.

Peter Gelling and Graham Webb steadied the side however and then Man of the Match Arnold cracked 28 not out as Ramsey reached their total with five wickets to spare.
