Ramsey top with one match to go

In the Standard Bank Premiership yesterday there were wins for Ramsey, Cronkbourne and Castletown.

With each club having just one game to go, Ramsey now head the table by one point from Cronkbourne.

Star performer of the day was Castletown’s Seb Aycock who took five wickets for just two runs as his side beat St John’s.

Batting first the Saints were dismissed for 65 with Colin Gilbert hitting 23.

The Town knocked off the runs to win by nine wickets, mainly thanks to an aggressive 34 not out from Wicus Wessels.

Ramsey bowled out Crosby for 48 – Jamie Moffatt took 3-14 and Shaun Kelly had 2-9.

The northerners then got the runs for the loss of two wickets – Tom Howard made 20 and Dominic Howard ended on nine not out.

Cronkbourne beat Valkyres in a close game at Tromode.

Will Wood crashed 79 for Cronkbourne, while Ally Slack added 27 as Cronkbourne ended on 200 for 6.

Valkyres were in a good position at 113 for 2, but were pinned back by an inspired spell from Phil Richardson who took 3-15 from eight overs.

Tom Reader hit 39 and Shahzeb Raja was 59 not out at the end when Valkyres were dismissed for 167, losing by 33 runs.
