FC Isle of Man beat FC St Helens in season opener

FC Isle of Man got the Lee Dixon era underway with a winning start in last night's (1 August) season opener.

The Ravens beat FC St Helens two-nil in the NWCFL Premier Division at The Bowl, in Douglas.

James Lowther broke the deadlock on 30 minutes when he finished off a brilliant counter attack. 

It was the 16-year-old's headed clearance from a Stripes corner towards Adam Adebeyi which started the move. 

The striker then flicked the ball back into the path of Lowther; a one-two with Dean Pinnington then culminated with the debutant finding the back of the net. 

FC Isle of Man held firm for the rest of the encounter, as the visitors struggled to make any impact in the home side's penalty area. 

The victory was then sealed by William Cowin in the 90th minute. 

A counter attack in similar fashion to the first, but this time it was substitute Tomas Brown who's cross field pass found Cowin with space to run into the box. 

The Ravens man then powered the ball past goalkeeper Conor Robson.
