Vagas Ladies beaten at Didsbury
Douglas lost 24-19 away at Winnington Park in Regional 2 North West but their losing bonus point means they climbed a place in the table when rivals Vale of Lune lost. Douglas now sit in third place and have a game in hand against Burnage which will be played next Saturday.
Douglas trailed 17-10 at half time today after a first half try from Oli Corkish which was converted by Matty Wood who also added a penalty. Wood added a further three penalties in the second half but it wasn’t enough to catch Winnington Park.
Ramsey and Vagabonds both lose
Ramsey led Oldham for much of the first half after a Josh Corteen try put them in front. Oldham however bagged two tries just before half time to lead 12-5 at the break. Scott Kneale touched down for Ramsey early in the second half and Dan Kelly’s conversion levelled the score. Two more Oldham tries then followed before Jake Richmond’s try pulled Ramsey back into the game with Scott Kneale converting to give Ramsey a sniff of a losing bonus point. A late Oldham penalty however denied them that.
Fleetwood beat Vagabonds 41-7 at Ballafletcher to remain top of the standings albeit with games in hand for the chasing pack. Keegan Paverd, Brett Whitehead, Max Bailey and Chris Jones all crossed for Fleetwood tries in the first half with Tom Evans converting two for a 24-0 half time lead. Kieran Butler and Tommy Hibbert both added to the Fleetwood tally in the second half before Vagas hit back with their dominant scrummage earning a penalty try. There was however no big comeback and a Jack Brocklehurst try ended all resistance.
