Report by Dave Christian:
Douglas downed at home
After the highs of last week’s away win, the Douglas roller coaster went downhill this week with a 17-3 home defeat by Birkenhead Park.
Matty Woods was the only Douglas scorer with a penalty.
The result leaves Douglas in fourth place, however all their Regional 2 North West rivals now have a game in hand.
Douglas now have a week off before a daunting trip to Vale of Lune on 28th.
Vagabonds Ladies beat Crewe & Nantwich
Two early tries from the Vagas rocket ship Freya Crowe gave them solid start.
Bea O’Neill snatched their third and a Becky Dunn interception just before half time saw the teams turn around with Vagas 24-0 ahead following two Sammie Macdonald conversions.
Despite Vagas having the majority of the territory in the second half Crewe pulled one back when skipper Jordy Morris crossed.
Becky Dunn then scored her second of the match to redress the balance with Sammie Macdonald adding her third conversion of the game.
Crewe had the final say though when Molly Latham crashed over in the final play of the game.
Nomads win in Manx Cup
Southern Nomads beat Vagabonds 21-7 in the opening game of the Hartford Homes Manx Cup.
First half tries from Clayton Matthews and Dick Seed plus two Mark Young conversions saw Nomads leading 14-0 at half time.
Vagas came back in the second half but a George Callister try again converted by Young was enough to see Nomads through to the final whistle.
