Southern Nomads win to go second in Manx Shield standings
Report by Dave Christian:
Douglas’ game in hand produced a mixed outcome for them when they lost 41-29 at Burnage in Regional 2 North West.
They scored four tries which gives them a useful losing bonus point, however rivals Vale of Lune beat league leaders North Ribblesdale which sees Douglas drop to fourth place in the standings and the top four close up a little in the table.
Si Hoddinott, Matty Wood, Oli Corkish and Josh Campbell all crossed for Douglas tries with Wood adding three conversions and a penalty, but it wasn’t enough as Burnage took their revenge for a 34-21 defeat in the reverse fixture.
Douglas hit the road again next Saturday with a trip to eighth-placed Northwich.
