Vagabonds thrash Eagle at Ballafletcher

Douglas beat Bowdon

Douglas beat Bowdon 17-7 at a wet and muddy Port-e-Chee. Wings Ben Webb and Sam Reid both picked up tries for Douglas, the latter on his home debut. Bryn Snellgrove converted both and added a penalty for good measure. The result pushes Douglas up into fifth place in the table.

 

Eagle downed at Vagabonds

Vagabonds closed in on fourth place in Cheshire (South) with a comprehensive demolition of Eagle at Ballafletcher finishing up 61-10 winners. Tom Cahill’s early penalty gave Eagle the lead but tries from Luke Purdy, Ryan Pope and a penalty try soon but Vagas in front. Sam Cook pulled one back for Eagle just before half time to leave Vagas in front 19-3.

 

The second half was however one way traffic. Pope went in for his second to secure the bonus point. Chris Neill then ran in two and he was followed by Leigh Kennaugh, Ross Pulman and Mark McGreal as Vagas dominated. Aidan O’Shea converted eight of Vagas’ nine tries.

 

Vagas Ladies lose out at home

Chasing the leading group in Womens NC North 1, Vagabonds needed to beat second placed Sefton to close the gap however it was the well drilled Sefton side that took the points and top spot, winning 25-0.

 

Tries from Vicky Irwin and Ellen McGrath gave Sefton a 10-0 half time lead. In the second half Irwin rounded off a solid personal performance with three more tries to close the game out.

 

Vagabonds B and Ramsey B go through in Manx Plate

There were no real surprises in the Manx Plate with the fancied teams making progress to the next rounds. In the preliminary round Vagas B eased past Emerging Nomads 43-12 at Castle Rushen High School. John Ali and Gerard Landels crossed for Nomads with Pat Creer adding a conversion. Vagas face Douglas B in the next round in two weeks time.

 

In the first round, at Mooragh Park, Ramsey beat Noa Nomads 67-31 in a high scoring game to book a semi final place against Castletown. Dale Radcliffe was Ramsey’s star with three tries. There were two apiece for Jordan Walsh and John F Watling and single scores for Chris Clague, Joe Flanagan and Ben Harding. Scott Kneale kicked a penalty and seven conversions.
