Solid starts for Ramsey & Douglas in Manx Trophy

Ramsey opened their account in the Manx Trophy with a 32-12 bonus point win away at Southern Nomads. Tries from Dave Keenan, Danny Howard (on debut) and Dan Richmond, plus two Richmond conversions gave them a 19-7 half time lead at the Field of Dreams. Richmond added two second half penalties to push his side further ahead and Connor Cracknell’s late try secured the bonus point.

In the “old firm” clash at Port-e-Chee Douglas South  came away with the honours beating Vagabonds 29-5 and also claiming a try bonus point to send them to the top of the very early table.

Wins for Vikings and Nomads in Manx Bowl

Western Vikings claimed a bonus point win at the Mooragh Park when they beat Ramsey B 26-7. Peter Beaumont’s try plus a Ryan Burke conversion put Vikings into the lead, but Ramsey hit back through Ali Kennaugh and Darragh Pilkington’s conversion levelled the score. After being all square at half time, Vikings seized the initiative in the second half. Chris Horton’s try put their noses in front, Chris Beaumont sneaked one over too and Burke’s conversion put them two scores clear. A late try from Kevyn De Souza gave them the bonus point.

Emerging Nomads secured top spot in the standings with an emphatic 53-0 win away at Castletown. Andy Lean ran in a hat trick for Nomads with Josh Glover picking up two. Mike Craine had twelve seconds of glory with his try and there were also scores from Percy Hampton, Andy Joughin and Arthur Torin. Ari Brooks-Lund added four conversions.

Douglas get revenge against St Jacques

Douglas beat St Jacques Vikings 38-17 at Port-e-Chee to make up for their earlier loss in Guernsey. Tom Teasdale, Joe Le Roux and Taylor Quate all picked up tries for Vikings
