Rugby: Unfinished business to be seen to in Manx Bowl

Vagas Hornets play Ramsey B on 13 Feb

Rugby Union is set to make its return.

It's been 8 weeks since the last competitive matches.

To allow players time to get back into the swing of things, training time has been adjusted, with the Manx Executive Committee setting the start date for rugby as 13 February.

On that day some unfinished business in the Manx Bowl from before Christmas will be concluded when Vagabonds Hornets and Ramsey B go head-to-head.

This game will be on 13th at Ballafletcher with a 2:15pm kick off, with the winner of this match will likely win the competition.

If Ramsey win, they will take The Bowl unless Ramsey win by less than 7 and fail to score 4 or more tries and Vagabonds score 4 or more tries.

In these circumstances the teams would be tied at the top.

Manx Cup

The number 1 ranking gets a bye and the remaining 10 sides play in a preliminary round. Matches are determined by ranking position and 2 plays 11, 3, plays 10, 4 plays 9, 5 plays 8 and 6 plays 7. Ranking positions 6, 7 and 8 will depend on the Vagabonds v Ramsey game.

20 February

Douglas South v Vagabonds Ladies
Vagabonds v Castletown
Ramsey v Western Vikings
Southern Nomads v 8th ranked team
6th ranked team v 7th ranked team

The winners of the prelim round matches, together with Douglas North, will then move into the Manx Cup league phase, while the losing sides will move into a Manx Plate competition.

Manx Cup League Phase

This is due to start on 27 Feb.

The 6 teams will play each other just once. At the conclusion, the top 3 teams then move into a mini league where they play home and away with the top two going forward to a Manx Cup Final. The bottom three will also form a mini league which will be played in the same way, with an (as yet) undetermined piece of silverware up for grabs.

Manx Plate

The five teams will play each other home and away with the top two going forward to a Manx Plate Final.
