Rugby: Vale of Lune win at Douglas

Ramsey B secure second in Manx Plate

Douglas came within a whisker of beating Vale in the first game of the season in North One West however the reverse fixture at Port-e-Chee wasn’t quite so close with Vale winning 57-21 in a nine try victory. Harry Raven continued his scoring run with a try for Douglas and namesake Harry Hewson ran in two, with Jack Shimmin converting all three. Douglas are scheduled to play Broughton Park at Port-e-Chee next Saturday in their final game of the season.

 

Ramsey B secure second place in Ravenscroft Manx Plate

 

Ramsey B beat Western Vikings 64-12 at the Mooragh Park to secure second place in the competition and give themselves a home semi final which will coincidentally be against Western Vikings.

Vikings stormed into a first minute lead with a Toby Poole-Wilson try converted by Ed Knight. Joe Flanagan equalised for Ramsey just two minutes later and Darragh Pilkington’s conversion made it 7-7. Ramsey then accelerated away from Vikings with tries from Fintan Cummins, Nathan Robson and, Darragh Pilkington. Josh Hockney pulled one back for Vikings just before half time and as the teams turned around with Ramsey 26-12 ahead.  In the second half Ben Pickett and Tynan Pritchard added to Ramsey’s score, youngster Robson grabbed his second, Connor Casey ran in two and there was also a score from Ben Harding. Robson also added three conversions for an impressive 16 point personal haul.
