Ray Gawne packed away his flags this week
A farmer who's marshalled at the Billown Circuit for almost 60 years has been reflecting on his decision to retire.
This week, it was announced Ray Gawne was calling it a day, drawing to a close a career which began at the 1961 Southern 100.
This year's meetings at Billown have been cancelled along with the rest of the Island's road racing in 2020, meaning 2019 was the last time he took up his position at Ballabeg corner.
Mr Gawne says he felt like the time was right to pass on the baton to a younger generation:
Rugby: Bevan Rodd on bench for England's opening Six Nations match
MGP 26: A new Quayle set for the start line
Football: Douglas Royal face Peel in Floodlit Cup Final clash
Hockey: Three wins for Island sides in England Championships
