Competitor takes title by one point at Meary Veg

Report by Peter Kelly:

The Cross Skeet Medley Championship was held at Meary Veg Santon in ideal conditions.

With three separate disciplines of skeet being shot, English skeet was up first and the leader was Michael Cross on 24 with junior Joe Faragher and Peter Kelly in equal second place on 23 followed by junior Zac Bellhouse, Mark Hepworth and John Moore next on 22.

The next skeet discipline was Skeet doubles and once this was completed, we had a three-way tie for first place between Michael Cross, Joe Faragher and Zac Bellhouse on 48 points followed by Mark Hepworth on 46 with Peter Kelly on 45 in fifth place and making up the top six was Brian Faragher on 44.

The final discipline was the hardest, Olympic skeet and with Bellhouse and Faragher up first they set the bar to beat, Faragher scored 20 to finish on 68 Bellhouse was one point better on 69 so Cross had to hit 22 to claim the title and he did, but he had to hit both stand eight targets to take the Championship by one point with 70 points.
