Sixth formers conduct exit polls

Voting in the 2011 Isle of Man general election reached the halfway stage at 2pm.

Polling stations around the Island opened at 8am and will close at 8pm.

Voting appears to have been brisk in many locations, with another peak expected between 5pm and 7pm as people visit the stations on their way home from work.

Manx Radio has again commissioned exit polls, which are being carried out by sixth formers from the Island's secondary schools.

News editor Marian Kenny says when they were first trialled five years ago they proved to be remarkably accurate (listen to audio file below):

The results from Manx Radio's exit polls will be announced as soon as possible after the polls close.
