Island player part of GB squad for billiards sports in China

An Isle of Man snooker player competing in The World Games says it's an 'honour' to be taking part in this year's event.

Darryl Hill is part of the Great Britain team contesting the billiards sports competitions at the games in Chengdu, China.

It's a quick turnaround for the player who was also representing the Isle of Man at the 2025 Home Internationals competition in Leeds this week.

He says to take part in what he believes is a prestigious tournament is 'an exciting opportunity':

The games officially began yesterday (7 August) with the billiards sports events due to be held from this Sunday (10 August) until next Thursday (14 August).

First launched in 1981 in Santa Clara in the USA, The World Games is a multi-sport event for sports and disciplines that are not in the programme of the Olympic Games.

Taking place every four years, The World Games 'aspires to equal and exceed the importance of World Championships for the represented sports and disciplines.'

It's expected the 2025 meeting will attract around 4,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.
