SPORT: 13 face harsh conditions in 2nd round of DTL league

Report by Peter Kelly

The second round of the Cu Plas Callow Winter Series DTL league was held at Meary Veg Santo with 13 hardy souls taking part in cold damp and breezy conditions.

The leader in A class after the first round was Alan Wade who hit a perfect 25/75 straight, in equal second place were Phil Ward and Mike Walker with 24/71. The leading B class shooter was Rob Corlett on 18/51 with Stan Cross second on 17/50. Will Rand was the leading C class on 19/56 with Mark Sweetman in second place on 19/54.

After a short break the second round got under way with the wind now blowing stronger, lifting the targets and making the eyes water.

Brian Kelly finished in third place in C class with 63 points with Mark Sweetman taking second place on 115 but the winner of C class with 119 points was Will Rand. Rob Corlett finished in second place in B class on 103 with Stan Cross in first place on 111. In A class, Mike Walker finished in third place on 136 with Phil Ward taking second place on 143 (but it could have been a different story if Phil had remembered to take his safety catch off for his first target of the day, which he lost) but taking the top spot in A and high gun overall was Alan Wade on 143.
