Stewart twins have Rushen seeing double

In the match of the day, table toppers Old Boys were 3-1 winners over 2010 champions Rushen in the Canada Life Premier League.

Goals from twins Callum Stewart (2) and Craig Stewart ensured maximum points for the Blackberry Lane side.

Josh Kelly had brought Rushen level at1-1 before Old Boys took charge and Kelly missed a penalty in the closing stages to ensure there was no late drama.

Old Boys finished the match with 10 players following the harsh dismissal of Liam Buckley.

Laxey edged a seven goal thriller at Castletown Stadium.

Nathan Cooil, Michael Edge, Alex Crawley found the net for Town but Darryl Haslett, Darren Hudgeon, John Callow and Ashley Webster ensured the Miners were the winners.

Max Kneale grabbed one of the goals as Corinthians won 2-0 at Ramsey, while St John’s were pushed hard by Ramsey Youth Centre in the battle of the newly promoted sides before emerging 3-2 winners.

A first half double from Sean Kelly had fired Youth Centre into a 2-1 half-time lead but Steven Glover (two) and Andy Glover turned the match in the visitors’ favour.

St John’s played much of the match with 10 men following the dismissal of Nicky Sloane.
