Students celebrate historic win in rugby's 'Big One'

Castle Rushen celebrate maiden win over KWC

Castle Rushen High School students made history on Thursday when its rugby team beat King William's College in a match known as 'The Big One'.

It's the first time they have prevailed in the fixture's 70-year history.

Callum Smith kicked the winning points for Castle Rushen - who were trailing 12-13 heading into the closing stages - to spark jubilant scenes on the sideline.

Match-winner Smith and his captain Jacob Halstein hailed it as 'the best day' in Castle Rushen's sporting history.
