Summer shooting season draws to close at Santon

Titles decided at Meary Veg

Another successful summer season of shooting at Meary Veg in Santon was rounded off with a snooker shoot on Sunday.

Dave Lally was the winner with 56 points, four ahead of runner-up Giulio Fabrizio with Stan Cross and Peter Kelly in equal third place on 51.

In the summer leagues, the Colin Bowen Memorial English skeet league was first to finish with John Moore being crowned champion and A class winner, including two 50 straights and two 49s.

The runner-up was Jeff Corkill with Stan Cross in third place.

Paul Mihailovits won class B with James Simpson in second place and junior Michael Cross in third.

The C class winner was John Kneen from colt Arran Wade and George Noble in third.

The SMP Partners sporting league had the closest finish of all the leagues and the victor was Alan Wade in A class with last year’s champion Jack Clague in second place and George Davies in third.

Peter Fabrizio was the B class winner with Willy MacLeod taking the honours in C class from Brian Faragher and Arran Wade.

The next to finish was the Tower Insurance DTL league and once again Alan Wade retained his crown and won A class from Peter Kelly and Steven Craine.

B class went to Rob Marshall with Arter Stepka taking second place and Stan Cross in third place.

The C class winner was Brian Faragher with Arran Wade in second place and Richie Radcliffe in third place.

In the Manx Petroleum’s Olympic skeet league, Nigel Kelly was the clear winner, who had a 50 straight in his counting scores, from David Clague and Jeff Corkill.

Peter Kelly turned the clock back in the Sadler Agricultural Supplies competition, taking the title from Dave Walton in second place, who had a 50 straight, and Alan Wade in third place.
