Swimming: Oscar Maddrell nominated for regional award

Coach, Silla Parnell also shortlisted for a potential accolade

Young Isle of Man swimmer, Oscar Maddrell has been shortlisted for a regional award in the UK.

The Manx competitor has been shortlisted in the Athlete of the Year category for next month's Swim England North West Regional Awards 2026.

He's not the only Isle of Man representative in contention for honours as coach, Drusilla 'Silla' Parnell has been shortlisted for the Coach/Teacher of the Year prize.

Both will now have the chance to attend the awards ceremony itself which is due to be held at Leigh Sports Village in Leigh on Saturday, 3 October.

Meanwhile, multiple other members of the Isle of Man swimming community were also nominated for honours.

Lee Holland was nominated for Talent Development Coach of the Year whilst four individuals - Matthew Williamson, Sian Killey, Elaine Taylor and Garry Reynolds - were put forward for Volunteer of the Year.

Williamson was also nominated for the SENW Regional Club Recognition & Achievement Award, and separately Josh Hollanby was put forward for the Young Volunteer of the Year prize.
