
Lloyd Taggart won the Syd Quirk Memorial Half Marathon in terrible conditions in the south of the Island yesterday.
Battling throught the wind and rain, he finished 26 seconds ahead of Martin Malone in 1:15.18.
Mike Garrett was third, almost six minutes behind Malone.
Jackie Lee was the first lady home (10th overall), recording the sixth fastest time by a woman in the event in the process.
Her time of 1:27.43 is still some way behind the fastest though.
Brenda Walker finished in 1:17.10 in 1992.
Gail Griffiths was second (18th) and Rosy Craine third (24th).
Meanwhile in the walk Michael George recorded another victory to add to his ones in the End to End and Julie Brew Memorial walks in the last couple of months.
He finished almost seven minutes ahead of Vinny Lynch, with Chris Cale third.
Sally Walker was the first lady (11th overall), ahead of Bernie Ball (15th) and Judith Quane (16th).
