Medical teams needed for Glasgow 2026
Team Isle of Man is looking for medical professionals ahead of the 2026 commonwealth games.
The event, which is being held in Glasgow 24 July - 2 August, has had a change to its format requiring a medical team at all or part of the games.
The roles:
Team Doctor
Applicants require a current GMC registration and ideally hold a Diploma or MSc in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
They should have a working knowledge of Anti-Doping issues and have a good understanding of the needs of high-performance athletes.
Chartered Physiotherapist
We are looking for a chartered physiotherapist to work as part of Team Isle of Man to deliver treatment to our athletes in the lead-up and during the games.
Applicants should have a minimum of seven years’ post-graduate experience with a particular interest in the treatment of sporting injuries.
Ideally, applicants should have a minimum of three years of sports-specific experience, and experience of multi-sport events.
All applicants should be HCPC registered.
Sports Massage Therapist
We are also hoping to take a dedicated Sports Massage Therapist to the Games to work as part of the team with the physiotherapist to provide support to our athletes during the games period.
Candidates would need to be available to travel with the team and stay for all or part of the games period.
Applicants should have a minimum of three years relevant experience working in the field of Sports Massage and should hold a minimum of a level five qualification.
All these roles are voluntary in terms of the time given, and all applicants would need to be available for the duration of the Games.
Any out-of-pocket expenses would be reimbursed by the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association.
Anyone wishing to be considered for the role should submit a short introductory letter explaining their background and reasons for wanting to be considered for the role to the CGA IOM by 10 February 2026 together with a CV.
