Town take advantage to go top

Marown win Crosby thriller

Castletown are the new leaders of JCK Division Two.

Nathan Cooil’s 14th minute goal was enough to secure the promotion chasers a 1-0 victory over Ramsey Youth Centre.

Alex Crawley was sent-off late on for Town but they held on and go top.

That’s because the match between Braddan and Gymns was abandoned, due to a second half injury to the visiting goalkeeper, and also because Foxdale’s promotion hopes suffered a setback as Marown won a thrilling western derby.

Doubles from Joey Rothwell and Ashley Heginbotham sealed a 4-3 victory for the hosts.

It was a dramatic finish as Marown fought back from 3-2 down with 25 minutes remaining.

Jay Chatwood, Liam Cannon and Aaron Costain had found the net for Foxdale.

Paul Whitley hit a hat-trick as Douglas Royal saw off Malew 8-2 at Ballafletcher.

Craig Dolman (two), Andrew Lancaster (two) and Gavin Gawne grabbed the others for the home side.

There were also hat-tricks at Bemahague where Pulrose United defeated Governor’s Athletic 9-0.

Darren Flanagan and Kenny Cowin netted the trebles and were joined on the scoresheet by Dale Walker, Ray Lovell and Barry English.

Joe Rees (two) and Paul Morris scored as Onchan won well, 3-0 at strugglers Michael.
