Son of two-time winner linking up with experienced passenger

Sidecar racer George Holden will make his TT debut this year alongside experienced passenger Mark Wilkes.

Son of two-time TT winner John Holden, George will join forces with former Snaefell Mountain Course podium finisher Wilkes on the Barnes Racing DMR Yamaha outfit built by 17-time TT winner Dave Molyneux.

This update comes after it had previously been announced late last year that 32-year-old Holden was initially due to take on this year's racing fortnight with passenger Jake Roberts.

It also marks a change of circumstances for Wilkes who'd originally been expected to race again in 2025 with driver Tim Reeves who's since withdrawn from participating in the 2025 meeting.

Speaking on the latest plans, Holden of Clitheroe says: "With Dad racing for so long, I’ve obviously grown up with the TT so competing has been on my mind for a long time and now the time’s right to turn that dream into a reality.

"I’ve been building my experience up on the short circuits but, to be honest, it was only in 2023 when everything started to come together for making my TT debut.

"...When Mark became available, we soon got everything arranged and it’s great to have a passenger on board of such high calibre and with so much experience. That can only be of benefit."

With four full seasons under his belt in the British Sidecar Championship so far, Holden has been racing in that series with passenger Oscar Lawrence who is also making his TT maiden appearance this year.

Lawrence is due to team up with driver Lewis Blackstock.
