TT consultancy cost is £57K

The Department of Economic Development has confirmed the overall cost of engaging the Sports Consultancy to look at the feasibility of a TT World Series.

The figure has been revealed after the department member with political responsibility for tourism and motorsport Geoff Corkish MHK said he didn't know what the sum was, during a recent Manx Radio interview.

Sports editor Tim Glover reports (text below from attached audio file):

The Sports Consultancy will charge £57,000 which includes travel and expenses for the five month contract.

It started on November 1 and will run until March 31 next year.

The Department is stressing the appointment was made after a full tender process and a demonstration of previous work, which includes the Olympics and Formula One.

The high level of expertise is needed to see if the idea of a TT World Series is workable.

In contrast the Manx Grand Prix Festival review is able to be carried out in house at no cost.
