Turmoil in British Rally Championship

Three of the four outfits contesting the British Rally Championship team award have withdrawn, leaving only Mitsubishi Motors U.K. in the competition.

Atlas TEG Sport, who have Manx driver Mark Higgins, Team TQ.com which is managed by David Higgins and Revolution Wheels are protesting at a decision to strip TEG of 15 points.

The penalty was imposed after it was discovered Phillip Morrow's co-driver Gordon Noble was not registered for the British Championship before the last round - the Ulster Rally.

Morrow was sacked ahead of the Ulster by Mitsubishi and signed just prior by TEG. Morrow had to find a replacement co-driver at the last minute in order to be able to take part.

All three teams will still contest the drivers championship which is led by David Higgins. He is two points ahead of his brother Mark with Mitsubishi's Guy Wilks in third.

There are three rounds remaining - in Yorkshire later this month and the double header at the World Rally Championship round in Wales in December.
