Urgent call for volunteers for Chris Kelly Rally

Marshals, operators and timekeepers wanted for October meeting

Organisers of an upcoming rallying event on Island are issuing an urgent call for more volunteers to help the event take place.

The Chris Kelly Rally is due to be held across Friday, 2 October and Saturday, 3 October with competitors taking on around 93 stage miles across the two days.

To ensure stages can proceed as planned, Manx Auto Sport is keen to hear from anyone who can assist as marshals, radio operators and timekeepers, even those who may not have helped out before.

Chief Marshal and Deputy Clerk of the Course for the event, Mark Ellison, says volunteer numbers are encouraging so far but that there are still several areas needing cover:

Signing on sessions for marshals, radio operators and timekeepers will take place on Tuesday, 29 September; Wednesday, 30 September and Thursday, 1 October at the Mike Hailwood Centre behind the TT Grandstand on Glencrutchery Road in Douglas.

Of the approximate 93 stage miles the event provides, around 43 per cent of those are due to be competitive miles on classic Isle of Man roads.

Day one on Friday, 2 October is due to begin from 6pm at the TT Grandstand before three loop stages are held at Port Erin, Poyll Vaaish and Corlea - this loop will then run two more times in the dark.

The following day (3 October) will once again begin at the TT Grandstand with stages at the Baldwins, Ballavoddan and Tholt-y-Will running three times each before the event returns to the TT Grandstand.
