Vagabonds B stay in Shield hunt

League leaders Ramsey A cruised to a 52-0 win over Emerging Nomads to edge a little closer to the Shimmin Wilson Manx Shield title, while chasing Vagabonds B kept themselves in the hunt with a 29-0 win over Ramsey B.

Ramsey A were pretty dominant at King Williams College with tries coming from Danny Turner (two), Shaun Wyllie (two), Max Singer, Craig Long, Matty Livesey and Aneurin Pritchard.

The impressive Wyllie also kicked six conversions for the northerners.

At Mooragh Park, a big pack of Vagabonds’ forwards rode roughshod over a comparatively small Ramsey B side.

Christo Roelofse and Joe Louw touched down for Vagas to make it 10-0 at half time.

Roelofse got his second early in the second half, which made it 17-0 after Kieran Lever’s conversion.

In the closing stages of the game, Louw picked up his second as the defence tired and he also created an opening for substitute Andre Pretorious.

In the final Shield game of the day, Southern Nomads picked up a solid 57-3 win at Western Vikings.

Dan O’Connor kicked a penalty early on to put Vikings in front but Nomads soon hit back with a hat-trick of tries each from James Hamil and Casey Davies, two from Andy Lean and one from Rob Keelan.

Dave Edge kicked six conversions for Nomads.
