Nomads take charge in Manx Trophy

Vagabonds’ Ladies flew the Manx Rugby flag away at Garstang in their opening game in Women’s NC North West One.

In a 30-12 win, new skipper Corrina Daly led the way with her first try at the helm and there were also tries from Dee Gimbert, Lauren Ellison, Vanessa Tranter and Sammie Macdonald, who also kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Southern Nomads sent out a strong message in the Shimmin Wilson Manx trophy when they beat Douglas Celts 59-15 at Port-e-Chee.

Ian Hargreaves and Leon Landels were the danger men for Nomads with two tries apiece, while there were also tries from Brendan Coleman, Andy Lean, Tom Duggan, George Callister and Harry Brereton.

Mark Young kicked six conversions. Wade Shrives, Karl Evans and Cal Carine all went in for Douglas.

In the Shimmin Wilson Manx Bowl, Vagabonds B conceded to Castletown, while Western Vikings beat Emerging Nomads 50-7 at King William’s College.

Olly Creasey and Alex Gibson got two apiece for Vikings and there were tries from Liam Sweeney, Jonathan Crellin, Jack Goodwin and Conal McCartney.

Ryan Burke kicked five conversions.
