Valkyrs A display title credentials

Valkyrs A turned the match of the day on its head to stay joint top of the Wi-Manx men’s Premier Division on Saturday.

Vikings A looked set to get their season up and running, thanks to first half goals from Conor Byrne and Andrew Harding.

But a fired up Valkyrs showed their mettle and second half doubles from Ollie Webster and Gareth Morris made it three wins out of three and three defeats for Vikings.

The reigning champions also maintained their 100 per cent record but were given a scare by Ramsey.

A last minute winner from Richard Le Page and a Tom Wilson goal saw off the northerners 2-1.

Dan Stevenson grabbed the Ramsey goal.

Castletown A and Bacchas B shared four goals with Sven Lindeque and James Ormond scoring for the southerners and Matt Holden and Alex Bell replying for Bacchas.

The big match in the Wi-Manx women’s Premier Division ended all square as Vikings and Valkyrs A drew 1-1 - Kirsty Cooper and Ashley Hall the respective scorers.

Bacchas A took advantage to move top with a Claire-Louise Lace hit-trick firing them to a 3-1 victory over Valkyrs B, for whom Maxine Smalley scored.

A Beckie Jones doubled fired Ramsey to their first win of the season – 2-0 against Bacchas B – while Castletown A also notched their first points of the season with a 3-0 success over Vikings B.
