Changes to police vehicle checks come in

The way the police conduct vehicle checks changed on Monday.

Police say the Vehicle Defect Rectification Scheme has been brought in to improve the condition of them over here, by giving officers more powers to ensure people comply with regulations.

Sergeant Steven Lapsley of the Roads Policing Unit explained how the new system works.
