Kerry Sharpe calls for topics to be added to curriculum

A member of Tynwald says more needs to be done to inform young people about Manx politics and history.

Kerry Sharpe, Member of the Legislative Council, believes most people do not know the difference between parliament and government.

She says there's a responsibility on both sides to change this:

Government says Manx politics is currently taught in primary and secondary schools, and a new scheme of learning has been finalised for students in Year 10.

It says this is in addition to the existing curriculum which covers local political issues.

A specific online course is available this year for school age voters about the importance of registering to vote.
