DID YOU KNOW ?

‘THOUGHT FOR THE DAY’ BROADCAST MONDAY - FRIDAY  ON MANX RADIO IS NOW AVAILABLE AS A WEEKLY PODCAST ?

‘THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK’  is a combination of 5 daily thoughts - all in one handy podcast! Why not give it a try?

ON PRAISE TODAY - 22 SEPTEMBER

We look back over SPRING HARVEST LOCAL through the thoughts of just a few of the hundreds of people who were there at Mountain View Innovation Centre last week. Alongside Rev Alex Brown, Onnee Ayres, Bob Jeavons and SUMT’s Ruth Walker, we hear from worship leader Lisa Holmes and keynote speaker Gavin Calver.

Lea Milligan has some staggering information about Mercy Ships, which operates the largest charity-run hospital ship in the world

and the man who made it all possible by persuading the SHL team to come to the Island - local businessman David Dorricott - very fittingly has the last word!

PLUS EXTRA PODCAST-ONLY

CONTENT THIS WEEK!

THE WHOLE OF THE BUCHAN SCHOOL

SING FOR WORLD PEACE !

The whole of the Buchan school with teachers and parents  singing ‘One Wish’ - a special song they recorded on Friday, as part of the ‘One Day - One Choir’ global peace initiative which uses the power of singing together,  to unite people around the world on Peace Day.  My thanks to Mrs Sue Mills from the Buchan who sent me their recording - and congratulations to everyone involved.

Music on PRAISE today is a selection of extracts from songs written and performed by  singer/songwriter/worship leader Lou Fellingham

=====================================================

“Home”  : The Cathedral IoM will be showing A Free Film Screening of “Home” on Wednesday 25th September at 7.30pm in support of The Week of Global Action across the Island (20th - 29th Sept) raising awareness of the Climate and Ecological Emergency .

“Home” is a film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, famous for “The Earth from Above” a  photographic portrait of aerial shots of our planet, that takes us on a sensational journey above 50 countries as seen from the sky, and provides us with a seldom seen portrait of our Home.  Jason Buchanan, a film critic said "we are afforded the unique opportunity to witness our changing environment from an entirely new vantage point," and that the film was "produced to inspire action and encourage thoughtful debate."

Planet earth is critically ill, but another future is possible, if we all decide to write it together........

The Diocesan Environmental Officer Cheryl Cousins said “ The Diocese is a partner in the UNESCO Biospehere IoM and is committed to The A Rocha Eco Church Initiative, where churches and chapels across the Island are all working towards reducing their carbon footprint. It fully supports the IoM Climate Change Coalition in raising awareness of the need for action in tackling this climate emergency. This film is a celebration of the interconnectedness of the wholeness and beauty of planet Earth, weighed against the impact of humankind upon our Home.”

Everyone welcome, no need to book, come in warm clothes as we will be saving on fossil fuels, donations to help cover costs would be much appreciated.

Thoughts shared by Rev Brian in his last parish magazine :

‘I believe churches are meant for praising God, but so are early morning car rides, showers, coffee shops, the gym, conversations with friends, meeting strangers .… Don’t let a building confine your faith because we will never change the world by just going to church, we need to BE the church.’
