BC20 FK17

This week, we’re looking back at the 7th North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference which took place around the Island a couple of weeks ago, we’re also going to be speaking to artist Vici Blackburn about the collection of work she has on display as part of the group exhibition BC20 FK17 at the Sayle Gallery, and Hip Hop Artist Han FX want you to join in with his band’s flashmob music video this weekend!

If you’re looking for links or further information on today’s guests and features, head to the Spotlight blog at manxradio.com and you can share your thoughts and keep us up to date with creative goings-on through Spotlight@manxradio.com

We begin today’s programme in Laxey where visitors have traveled from far and wide for the 7th North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference. We speak to the Conference's founder, Karin Randi Flatoy Svarstad, Norwegian delegate Kari and Artisan crafters Yarny Grainne, Alice Quayle and Claire Pearse. We’ll have more from the 7th North Atlantic Native Sheep and Wool Conference for you next week but in the meantime, you can find out more about the conference on their website.

Now we’re heading over to the Sayle Gallery where Vicki Blackburn, Ian Coulson, Helen Fox and Phil Kneen are exhibiting work influenced by the Island’s fishing industry. The show, curated by Helen Fox has been given the title BC20 FK17 which reflects the registration numbers given to fishing boats and features the first letter of each of the Artist’s surnames and the year split into two parts. We spoke to Artist Vici Blackburn, who has had quite an exciting year!

Our final guest this week is Kieran Hannifan, who you’ll most likely know by his stage name Han FX - not only is he hosting Hip Hop Tu Naa at Amber this weekend, but he and his band are also filming a music video for their latest track in this weekend and you could be in it!

We’ll be back next Wednesday at half past five but do keep in touch through Spotlight @manxradio.com.
