AT YOUR SERVICE - 27 DECEMBER 2020

At Your Service

Saturday, 26 December 2020 - 30 minutes

In this final edition of At Your Service for 2020, Bishop Peter reflects on the unique challenges presented by the  impact of the COVID-19 pandemic - how did we make those early decisions? and what have we learned in the months that followed? And with so much uncertainty still around us, is it truly possible to wish each other a happy New Year?
Clare Faulds has been on pilgrimage - during December she walked 45 miles from Rushen Abbey to Maughold.  That's about half the distance which Mary and Joseph walked, from their home in Nazareth, to Bethlehem where the child Jesus was to be born.  But connecting with the story of the birth of the Christ-child was not the main reason for Clare's pilgrimage - so what WAS it?  We find out in a conversation with Clare in Maughold on Christmas morning, at the end of her pilgrimage -  and also discover why she chose to sleep rough, on the coldest night in the last two years!
Our music this week is mostly local - two pieces from the Choir of King William's College - the popular carol 'O Little Town of Bethlehem' and Boris Ord's setting of the 15th century verse 'Adam lay ybounden'
Their Musical Director is Steve Daykin and the organist is Stuart Corrie.
There's also a setting of The Lord's Prayer by Men Aloud together with Boys Aloud
And if you'd like to choose a favourite hymn for inclusion in a future programme, I'd love to hear from you - email me with details - judithley@manxradio.com
