AT YOUR SERVICE - 6 DECEMBER 2020

At Your Service

Sunday, 6 December 2020 - 30 minutes

In this second week of Advent, Rev'd Alex Brown explores two Bible passages - one from the Old Testament, written by the prophet Isaiah, and one from the New Testament, from the start of Mark's gospel.  They were written over 700 years apart - but what - or who -  links them together?
And what might they mean for us - today?
And does that modern meaning have any connection with CHRISTMAS LIVE that's coming to Douglas on 17th December?  Rev'd Alex Brown thinks it does - and he's got all the information to share in this week's programme.
Rev'd Ruth Walker is looking forward to her first Christmas as an ordained priest in the Anglican Church.  Rev'd Ruth is curate at the Cathedral in Peel, and has just been appointed Chaplain to the Mothers' Union which means she'll be taking services for the Island's MU branch members.  She's just written an article for Mothers' Union Advent Newsletter, about POSADA - an Advent custom from Spain, that's come to Peel - Ruth joins us today with the full story.
Plus there's music too - a requested hymn, and a great Advent hymn too, as well as notice board news for today.  If you'd like to request your favourite hymn or Christmas carol for inclusion in a future programme, do please email me the details : judithley@manxradio.com
