Steam Packet owner Macquarie Bank has bought the Channel Island ferry company Condor from the Royal Bank of Scotland.
The deal, said to be worth more than £250 million, still needs to be approved by the Jersey Competition Regulatory Authority.
Condor has five vessels which travel between Weymouth, Poole, Portsmouth, Jersey and Guernsey and St Malo in France.
The company accounts for 80 per cent of all sea freight to and from the Channel Islands.
