An initiative sponsored by HSBC bank will encourage children to save electricity by turning off lights and electrical appliances when they have finished using them.
Energy monitoring kits have been donated to all the Isle of Man's primary schools, so pupils can measure and monitor consumption and wastage.
The kits can look at individual apppliances, which will enable youngsters to see how much energy it takes to power devices such as their games consoles and laptop computers. They will also have the chance to take them home and spread the 'switch off' message.
Natasha Carter found out more from the Manx Electricity Authority's energy efficiency officer Mike Bonner, former waste minimisation and recycling manager Stephanie Gray and school advisor for the Manx Curriculum Jo Callister (listen to extended audio file);
